Juan is an award winning playwright. His play DON CHIPOTLE, directed by Jo Cattell, World Premiered at DCASE Storefront Theater presented by terraNOVA Collective and The Playground Theater.  EMPANADA FOR A DREAM, written and performed by Juan, made Best of Lists for The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Reader and Los Angeles Times. He is a part of the ALTA El Semillero Playwrights Unit at Victory Gardens where he is currently developing his new solo play FINDING PANCHO. He has developed his plays with Pivot Arts, Theatre Squared, Inviolet, Teatro Vista, and 16th Street Theater.

Finding Pancho by Juan Villa details a son’s search for his father, Francisco Jose Villa, who had been missing in Colombia for almost two years. After 26 years of living in the United States, Juan realizes in order to reunite with his family, he will have to return to his homeland and face the ghosts of his past.
